Backgrounds of KUSA:

Attending a university like UT, an undergraduate Korean student would expect to have the opportunity to join an organization designed for them or for anybody interested in the Korean culture. In the fall of 2006, however, this was not the case. The previous Korean American Students Association (KASA) had become inactive, leaving no group for them to join. We had the desire to create a new organization with the purpose: To advocate the education of the Korean history, heritage, relevance, and culture and to promote the unity and connectivity of the Koreans present in the student body and around the world. After several discussions about creating an organization and recruiting the founders we needed, the Korean Undergraduate Student Association (KUSA) was established on January 23, 2007. Each and every one of our founders shares a common passion and dedication to make our organization successful.

Primary Goals:
The Korean Undergraduate Student Association will be an organization created to fulfill certain goals. These goals will serve as a guideline of rules and regulations, hence, becoming the governing constitutional authority of the organization. The Korean Undergraduate Student Association will have THREE primary goals:

  1. The first and foremost goal of the organization is to advocate the education of the Korean history, heritage, relevance, and culture. Through this goal, we will be able to contribute to the world by spreading to our future leaders of the world the knowledge of the Koreans. Through this goal, we also place a solid ground in the diversity of our future.
  2. Our second goal of the organization is to promote the unity and connectivity of the Koreans present in the student body and around the world. This goal serves as a reminder that the Korean populations in the world need to be united and connected in order to correctly serve our first goal of the organization. An example of the second goal would be inviting North Korean escapees to the UT campus for a speech, inviting successful political- and/or business- oriented individuals to come and give advice and/or proposals. Another example would be to hold an event that would socially enhance or catalyze the process of introducing Koreans to other Koreans such as karaoke nights or poker nights.
  3. Our third and the last of our primary goals is to, as a Korean organization, do it's best to serve the communities around campus and around the world. The purpose of this goal is to establish this organization's interests to not only promote the education about Koreans, but to define and nurture Korea's advocates to good individuals that will succeed in the contemporary society. By fulfilling this goal, we serve the primary goal through good deeds and acts of compassion.

Any and all acts of any officer or member that do not show the intention of fulfilling these goals will be subject to punishment by sanctions from this organization.
